Complete inline filtration for compressed air: the SDLH-SS Series
The SDLH-SS Series is a complete platform for compressed-air filtration: twelve inline housings and six cartridge grades covering the path from coarse prefiltration to ultra-fine coalescing and final adsorption. Selection and service are straightforward, and all key data are grouped in a single table for specification and ordering.
Design features relevant in the field
- Aluminum housings with a connection design that seals reliably during service.
- Stable cartridge support: internal aluminum ribs keep the element steady under pulsation and start/stop.
- Needle-felt drainage layer for better heat resistance and consistent coalescing.
- KTL cataphoretic coating inside and out for corrosion and chemical resistance
- Practical layout for wall mounting and multi-filter assemblies
From coarse to final filtration
| Type | Cut-off | Residual oil (ISO 8573-1) | Typical use | New-element Δp |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Sintered bronze | 15 µm | — | Coarse prefilter for protection of downstream stages | 20 mbar |
| Prefilter | 3 µm | — | Fine solid filtration and removal of larger oil droplets | 10 mbar |
| Prefilter | 1 µm | — | High-efficiency removal of solids and aerosols before microfiltration | 20 mbar |
| Microfilter | 0.1 µm | < 0.1 mg/m³ | General-purpose coalescing filter for clean, dry air | 50 mbar |
| Microfilter | 0.01 µm | < 0.01 mg/m³ | Super-fine coalescing filter for critical, oil-free applications | 80 mbar |
| Activated carbon | — | < 0.005 mg/m³ | Final stage for odour and hydrocarbon vapour removal | 60 mbar |

One table for housings and cartridges
To make product selection simple, all filter housings and matching cartridges are listed together.
The table includes:
- Flow rate at 7 bar(g), 20 °C
- Thread size and dimensions (A–D, mm)
- Compatible cartridge codes
- Initial pressure drop and replacement rules
- Correction factors for 2–16 bar operation
Using the table
- Determine the required air flow for your application (Nm³/h at 7 bar(g), 20 °C).
- Select the housing with the corresponding nominal flow capacity and thread size (all housings rated 16 bar).
- Choose the cartridge grade according to the target ISO 8573-1 class or filtration stage.
SDLH-SS brings housings and elements together in one consistent range.
It is easy to specify, simple to service, and reliable for maintaining clean, dry compressed air in industrial systems.
Start from the required air flow (Nm³/h) at the working pressure.
Refer to the flow rates given at 7 bar(g), 20 °C, then apply the correction factor for your actual pressure (see the technical table).
Select the housing size that covers that flow and choose the cartridge grade matching your required ISO 8573-1 class.
For Class 1 oil content (<0.01 mg/m³), use an S (0.01 µm) microfilter followed by an A (activated carbon) element.
Always install the S element upstream of the carbon stage to remove oil aerosols before adsorption.
Replace elements when the pressure drop reaches 350 mbar (5.07 psi) or according to your planned service interval.
Activated carbon elements (A) should be replaced every six months, even if the pressure drop is still low.
Record the initial pressure drop after installation to monitor element condition over time.
